St Paul’s will be preparing our Easter Vigil in the church for the 4th of April at 7 PM.

Easter Saturday is perhaps the holiest night of nights for two reasons. First, it commemorates the day of Passover, not just the occasion when Jesus held the Last Supper with his disciples, but also the night when Moses led his people out of Egypt and crossed the parted Red Sea. Second, traditionally, after sunset or at midnight, the Easter Saturday Vigil ends the season of Lent and renews the light of Christ in our church, as we look forward to Christ’s emergence from the tomb.

This ceremony commemorates the return and renewal of the light of Christ when he rises from the dead on the third day (Easter Sunday).

It is also when St Paul’s marks, sanctifies and lights the new Paschal Candle for 2026 with the Easter Fire, making way for new baptisms and/or renewal of baptismal promises by the whole congregation. This also marks the return of the full Eucharist (beginning with the sung Gloria) and communion for Easter.

This service is additional to the two services that will occur on Easter Sunday.
