Monster Meeting 170th Anniversary Commemoration

November 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

A Commemoration Talk of the 170th Anniversary of the Bakery Hill Gold Diggers Monster Meeting of 1854

Join us at St Paul’s Bakery Hill at 6 PM, Monday the 11th of November as we commemorate the monster meeting of Gold Diggers, who made a petition to the Victorian Government of the time in protest to the diabolical Gold License and the associated taxes. This is a monumental moment in Ballarat’s history, as it is a prelude to the battle at the Eureka Stockade.

Our keynote speaker is Associate Professor Dr Carolyn Holbrook, from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Deakin University (who is also launching Anne Doggett’s book Lives of Honour: Ballarat East and the Great War).
